How You Can Help
We are looking for passionate volunteers to contribute their skills in the following areas:
1. Audio Experts
Do you have a background in sound analysis or audio technology? We need your expertise to help design and improve our sonic boom detection system. You will play a key role in making sure our devices accurately capture and analyze sonic booms. Whether you have existing experience with subsonic sound or are simply excited to learn more, this could be the project for you!
2. Developers
Are you a developer interested in working on exciting, real-time audio processing projects? We need your help in building the software to process the data our devices will collect. This includes developing applications that can visualize and analyze sonic boom data.
Technologies being evaluated include:
M5Stack Core2 ESP32 IoT Development Kit for AWS IoT Kit with LTE and LoRa modules for remote connectivity
Raspberry Pi Pico 2 with compatible modules
Web application development with charting (any programming language okay for now)
3. Device Builders
We are working to create a portable, easy-to-use device that will help detect sonic booms. If you have experience in electronics, engineering, or hardware design, we’d love your help in bringing this project to life. Your contributions will directly impact the development of the device that will be used by our community. Prototype devices are currently stored in Pelican Micro Cases and we are looking at small solar arrays with lithium battery power storage. Our goal is 24×7 device operation.
4. Financial Supporters
While we are not paying anyone for their time, building the devices and developing the technology requires funding. If you have the means to contribute, we would greatly appreciate your financial support to help cover the costs of materials and production for our sonic boom detectors.
